Based in Sheffield, in what was once the steel industry’s industrial powerhouse, Evans is perhaps ideally placed for her examination of the object: the ‘stuff’ of everyday life, without which we would struggle to survive.

Encompassing the tradition of the still life form, the use of repetition and precision places emphasis on her interrogation of identity portrayed through the medium of ownership and possession. From chance encounter to meticulous arrangements, nothing is beneath her gaze; the keys, the knives, the wallets, the cups of tea; the desired and the discarded, all feature in her photography.
